New Business Resource Efficiency Improvement Grant

The Resource Efficiency Yorkshire programme has just announced a new funding programme for businesses in Yorkshire and Humber to help SMEs improve their resource efficiency.

The Business Resource Efficiency Improvement Grants (BREIG) programme helps businesses in the region improve their resource efficiency by providing grants for purchasing equipment or machinery that will reduce company’s waste output, energy and fuel consumption and/ or water usage.

Businesses can apply for a capital grant of up to £8,000, at a maximum grant rate of 20% of the purchase price. Consultancy grants of up to £2,000 and training grants of up to £500 are also available.

Outlined below is a list of typical equipment or machinery that meet the eligibility criteria:
• More efficient, lower energy production equipment
• Modern high efficiency electric motors and drives
• Improved higher efficiency lighting, heating & energy recovery
• Lower energy refrigeration systems & improved insulation
• Water saving and recovery equipment
• Upgraded monitoring equipment and controls
• Greater use of environmentally friendly materials.
• Microgeneration equipment (to be confirmed).

Grants are available until 31st March 2012 or until all funds are exhausted.
