Grant funding for Kirklees Microbusinesses

Kirklees Council and the Green Business Network (GBN) are pleased to announce the launch of grant funding to help Kirklees micro businesses reduce their environmental impact and save money.

Micro businesses (less than 10 employees) can apply for grants of up to £1,000 to install effective energy efficient and/or carbon reducing equipment at their premises.

Interested businesses need to contact Jim Porter at the GBN to organise an initial audit to identify achievable cost and carbon savings. Jim will also provide support in completing the application.

The audit and advice are both free to businesses. The Carbon Trust estimates that organisations can save 20% of their energy costs through simple low or no cost measures. Their surveys indicate that a further saving of 6% is achievable from additional measures with a payback period of less than one year, rising to 12 -13 % for measures with payback periods of 1-2 years.

The GBN offers all Kirklees businesses free, impartial, confidential advice and hands on support, including free environmental audits to help achieve cost savings through reductions in energy use, water use and waste disposal. For more information about the Micro Business Grant or to find out how the GBN can help your business, please contact Jim Porter at the GBN on 01422 316661 or email jim.porter@ kirklees.gov.uk. This initiative is being funding through Kirklees Council and CO2Sense Yorkshire.
