The GBN set up an Integrated Recycling facility in Sheffield
- GBN (South Yorkshire) Ltd which received waste plastic and
organic materials for re-processing. The facility, developed
in conjunction with Outokumpu Stainless Steel Ltd, was a closed
loop system encompassing the largest social composting operation
in the UK and a plastics reprocessing and assembly facility.
This major initiative directly increased the volumes of waste
materials diverted from landfill by up to 50,000 tonnes per
year. The facility has now closed due to the decision of Outokumpu
to close the site. To find out more, please see the GBN
Projects page.
