Environmental Management Systems

The GBN has launched a network for Kirklees businesses                                                                     wishing to implement anlandfill  Environmental Management System (EMS).

The Kirklees EMS group meets quarterly to encourage sharing of best practice and provides free support and guidance to achieve an accredited EMS. We can also guide you through the impletementation process with one to one advice and access to systems and templates.

Carbon Footprinting Service

Calculating your carbon footprint is useful for your business and shows your stakeholders and customers that you are committed to becoming more environmentally friendly. It is a useful way of benchmarking your environmental performance. It allows you to analyse your carbon outputs in detail and gives you a starting point to help measure improvements.

Environmental Databases

From paper, carboard, metal and glass, right through to oil, batteries, chemicals and rubber, the GBN has a comprehensive database of local recyclers for these materials and many more. If you have a waste material that you would like to recycle, we can provide you with a list of local recyclers who can help.

Using green products and services in your business is a great way to help the environment and it can also save you money too. We've been busy developing databases of local companies who supply environmental products and services to businesses in the area. These include services such as pollution prevention, renewable energy technologies, green building products, lighting and energy management, So, if you're looking for a green alternative to an exisiting product or service get in touch and we will try and point you in the right direction.

Events and NewsLocal business event

We keep up to date on all aspects of environmental legislation and keep business informed of any relevant changes that may affect them through our website and quarterly newsletter. 

We also host events for local businesses on best environmental best practice. These events are always well attended and cover issues such as waste minimisation, pollution prevention and carbon reduction.
