Business Commitment to the Environment Award 2002

On 6 May 2003, the Green Business Network was presented with a top environmental award for the work it has undertaken with local businesses and received praise for the innovative partnership projects it has established which support community enterprise.

The Business Commitment to the Environment (BCE) awards were presented by thethen Environment Minister, Michael Meacher MP at a ceremony in London. GBN was one of the top five award winners being presented with a Premier Award.

Commenting on the 2002 winners, Mr Meacher said :

“The winners of the BCE awards have demonstrated how private and public sector organisations can make an important contribution to sustainable development. I urge other organisations to follow their excellent example.”
