ABLE Wins Biffaward Natural Environment Award

The Green Business Network’s ABLE Project has won a prestigious national award, including a £2,000 prize, for the 34 acre greenspace surrounding its Wakefield fish farm.

At the Biffaward Awards 2008 ceremony on HMS Belfast, London, ABLE was awarded top prize in the Natural Environment category beating off stiff competition from two Wildlife Trusts and The Woodland TrustABLE’s “Caldervale, Schools Nature Trail” project was one of only four category winners from 234 eligible projects.

Presenting the Natural Environment Award, Tony Richardson (RSPB Regional Director for South West England) who made his judging visit to Wakefield in June 2008 said that The ABLE Project was “extraordinarily sustainable”.

The Biffaward Awards (now in their 10th year) are an RSA-accredited environmental award. The Green Business Network has now won a Biffaward Award on an unprecedented four occasions.

Biffaward is a multi-million pound fund managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts as part of the Landfill Communities Fund.
